I cried when my dad cancelled cable and I lost the Food Network.

I read restaurant reviews on Yelp! obsessively, even about places I will most likely never patronize.

Amazon’s “Recommended for You” suggestions overwhelmingly point me to chef memoirs and delicious food books.

I sometimes knowingly eat things I’m allergic to because I convince myself that I can build up a tolerance, similar to how your immune system fights off germs.

While the rest of my graduate school classmates quote Jack Welch, Warren Buffett, and Steve Jobs, I reference Gabrielle Hamilton.
